Anthurium
Anthurium is an elegant indoor plant known for its bright and unusual flowers, which can be red, pink, white, green or even purple. Here's how to take care of an anthurium in a pot so that it feels good and pleases you with its beauty for a long time.
Conditions for potted anthurium
Lighting:
Anthurium prefers bright but diffused lighting. The ideal places are east or west windows. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can cause burns on the leaves. Lack of light can lead to a decrease in flowering.
Temperature:
The optimal temperature for anthurium is 18-25°C. Sudden temperature changes and drafts can negatively affect the plant.
Humidity:
Anthurium requires high humidity. In dry air conditions, it is recommended to spray the plant regularly or use an air humidifier. You can also place the pot on a pallet with wet pebbles or moss.
Watering:
Water the anthurium when the topsoil is dry. Avoid waterlogging, as stagnation of water can cause root rot. Use mild or distilled water.
Soil:
Anthurium prefers loose and well-drained soil. You can use specialized mixtures for orchids or make your own mixture by adding peat, perlite and pieces of bark.
Fertilizer:
Feed the anthurium once every 2-4 weeks during the period of active growth (spring and summer) with a balanced fertilizer for flowering plants. In winter, the frequency of fertilizing can be reduced or completely stopped.
Transfer:
Transplant the anthurium once every 1-2 years, when the roots begin to outgrow the pot. It is better to do this in the spring. Use a fresh substrate and do not forget about good drainage.
